The battle for the SEC East

While many try to figure out how the SEC West will be won, there’s also a battle brewing in the East. This weekend the Georgia Bulldogs take on rival team the Florida Gators.

The Gators remain undefeated so far this season. They have already shut out numerous teams in the SEC including Texas A&M (20-17), Tennessee (37-20), Kentucky (38-0), LSU (14-6), Vanderbilt (31-17) and finally South Carolina (44-11). With these stats, many already have Florida as a favorite to win this weekend’s game.

But, don’t count the Dawgs out just yet. Georgia has only lost one game this season and that was the blowout against South Carolina (35-7). Other SEC wins for the Dawgs include Missouri (41-20), Vanderbilt (48-3), Tennessee (51-44), and Kentucky (29-24). If Georgia has any chance of winning this game this weekend, they cannot play how they did last week against Kentucky.

The Florida Gators just have to continue to do what they’ve been doing. Attack early and fast. If they play how they played last week against South Carolina, they can get the lead early and keep it. If Georgia is looking for the upset, they have to get past Florida’s tough defense, play harder on offense, and make fewer mistakes. Last week in the Florida vs. South Carolina game showed us how well the Gators capitalize off of the opposing team’s mistakes, so the Dawgs do not want that to happen. Either way, it’s a rival game and the SEC Championship rides on it as well as the BCS National Championship for Florida, so it should be a good game.

#2 Florida takes on #10 Georgia in the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” on neutral territory in Jacksonville, FL at 3:30 EST. You can watch the game on CBS.
